Driving south on Hwy 11, between Temagami and Marten River, there was a lone moose browsing in a pond and watching the traffic pass by. I couldn't stop safely, but it was a nice sight to glimpse.

You are so lucky that you always see cool animals. I have been to the area many times and never seen any moose.
What time of the day was it?

Around 10:30 in the morning. I drive that section of Hwy 11 10-12 times per year (both ways), so I have more chances of seeing something. Mostly I just see crows and ravens.

Thanks for the report. I have seen moose numerous times but only in Algonquin park in Ontario. I am familiar with Highway 11 in the Orillia area because I am from there. On June 3 I drove north on 11 from Orillia and turned off at Washago to go to Queen Elizabeth II Park (Victoria Falls). I saw a bear with 2 cubs from a distance when I was driving on the gravel road into there. If you paste these coordinates in a browser you will see the spot:
44.801459, -79.151614
There were a lot of insects buzzing around at the park. After I walked around there for a couple hours I found 5 dog ticks sticking on me.
