Title: large insect this evening? Qeen? @the beach
Post by: Napper on June 27, 2024, 06:17:41 PM
This thing was buzzing around my head at suppertime. Yeah I can hear the jokes already.
Anybody have a clue what this? Been very busy with the reno's going on.
Napper? It curled up after I knocked it to the ground.
Taken with my old phone...
European Hornet?

Vespa crabro (European hornet).  They attack people riding Vespa scooters and they relish crab roe.  Seriously though, they can be dangerous in a fight.  Most often active at night where they are attracted to lights, like the headlight of a Vespa scooter.  Sorry, I can't help myself. With an increase in cicadas this year there may be more cicada killers out there.
