Title: Male Scarlet Tanager St. Catharines also Peregrine Falcons
Post by: novice chick on July 12, 2008, 01:30:43 PM
I saw this fellow today in the ravine just north of the Water Commission Park on Pelham Road.  I've heard his song for a couple of weeks now but today I went searching.  No mistaking the colourings on this bird.  I was only about twenty feet away.  I'm noticing more and more species returning to the Niagara area.  Some, like this one, I haven't seen since childhood....a few years ago.  Just a note, that I have often see three peregrine falcons soaring over this same ravine in the early evenings.
