Ressor Pond has drawn a bit of attention recently because of visiting shorebirds, such as a juvenile phalarope, a Baird's sandpiper and a Stilt sandpiper. The site is a difficult one for a photographer because there is limited access to the shoreline, confined to parts of the east side of the pond, including a tiny spit. I completely missed the phalarope, which would have been a first sighting for me. There is a chance that Baird's and Stilt will be seen again before the migration is over and then there is the possibility of Ashbridges drawing a few our way. Both species generally migrate through the central part of Canada and the US but the Great Lakes Basin has that magnetic quality.
