Title: Bald Eagle circling
Post by: Napper on September 23, 2024, 04:53:43 PM
Third time this year spotting a Bald Eagle at the beach. Just now was out checking the BBQ and then standing at end of driveway When the Crows started to go crazy. First time it circled I thought wow is that a Raven, second time I thought no that is way way to large. Third time I could see white head. Called my wife outside and it circle two more times. It was just above the tree tops.

It is really gloomy here today lighting is terrible. I spent the afternoon roughing in some electrical boxes.
Feeder is still busy with Nuthatches, a Downy WP and lots of Cardinals and Chickadees. I keep hearing RB Woodpeckers all day long.

Acorns are driving us a little crazy, It sounds like popcorn popping. The road is covered with crushed acorn dust.
Napper @ the beach.

I wonder if they were the young birds from this year's nest in Toronto. Hope to see more bald eagles.

I would not be surprised if there is a nest up here nearby. Tiny Marsh and Wye Marsh are not too far as the Eagle fly's.
Earlier in the Summer we spotted a very large bird with what looked to be a fish in its talons flying South as we were returning from a shopping outing in Midland near Baseline Road our way back to the Beach.

Late Feb into early  March 2022 we were at the Beach because family was visiting to pick up a large item that they had purchased at the Huronia Airport from Zenair. While there in Early March my wife and I watched a Bald Eagle fly North along the Beach.
p.s. go to any dump in Northwestern Ontario and you will find Bald Eagles along with Turkey Vultures, especially if they provide a fish gut dumping facility.
