Title: April 15th
Post by: Shortsighted on April 15, 2025, 04:53:54 PM
The park was pretty quiet at 8 a.m. but then things picked up, especially around the time of the first brief shower and wind storm.  In addition to the usual actors, sightings include:  White-throated sparrow / Fox sparrow / Hermit thrush / House finch / Purple finch (male) / Eastern Towhee (male and female) / Cooper's hawk / Merlin / Osprey / Am. goldfinches / N. flicker / and very many Golden-crowned kinglets.  I couldn't get shots of the Fox sparrow or the towhee due to intervening twigs + branches that confounded the auto-focus.  I should have focused manually but that kind of quick thinking and problem-solving is beyond my pay-grade.  The light levels were changing so often and so suddenly that my ISO adjustment got a workout.  Tomorrow looks like it's going to be another wind storm (60 KPH) ... it's too dangerous in the woods with a wind like that.  Even today I heard branches crashing down ... so exciting!
