Last Tuesday, at Ward's Island, I watched a pair of Song Sparrows busily feeding their youngster. The chick was at least twice their size (a noisy Baby Huey) and was, of course, a Cowbird.
On Friday, at the park on the western edge of Riverdale Farm, I observed another Cowbird chick on the lawn. Several House Sparrows fed around it and they scattered as a male Cardinal suddenly turned up and fed the Cowbird.
