Hi Craig,
We spent a couple of hours at the Wildflower Farm near Orillia on Wednesday, LOTS of fresh monarchs and one fresh great spangled fritillary made for a very good photo-op. I guess the swallowtails are gone for the season but we may visit the Niagara Butterfly Conservatory tomorrow (no plans to go inside) so there should still be some activity in the outdoor garden.
My neighbour has a crabapple tree on her front lawn; the apples ripened early this year and the comptons and eastern commas just 'arrived' yesterday. We dropped into Edwards Garden yesterday - a few monarchs and sulphurs but it looks like the red admirals and painted ladies just won't be around this year but it WAS a great year for mourning cloaks and tiger swallowtails; I guess the strange weather affected some species more than others!
