I went to Amherst yesterday, I caught the 6:30 ferry over and spent the day there. I walked into owl woods from the north end to watch for short-eared, but found none. I had the pleasure of meeting Bruce Di Labio and he had the knowledge and patience to find the Boreal owl and was kind enough to direct me to it. There were quite a few saw-whets as well and I saw 3 of them, white-winged crossbills were there as well, but no real good photo ops. I saw 4 snowy owls many rough-legged hawks and a couple of kestrels. After being up for 30+ hours, I made my way home and had a long nap.
Happy New Year everyone and good birding:):)

Excellent group of pics. Great colours and detail on all, the short eared POV is perfect.
