While birding on the Leslie Street Spit / Tommy Thompson Park this morning, I spotted a single Snowy Owl.

I also saw a number of song sparrows, 1 american kestral, 1 goshawk, 2 nothern cardinals, a number of chickadees, 3 mergansers, dozens of oldsquaw, dozens of golden eyes, half dozen downy woodpeckers, etc.
It was cold. :)

After going through a few pictures, I will include 'common redpoll' in the list of birds.

I went there today (Jan 11), I guess it is not my lucky day. I saw red hood woodpacker and the usual birds tho.

I was there this morning and didn't see it either. I didn't see the red headed woodpecker though. Nice find.

I was there on Sat early a.m (brrrrrr!), and did not see the Snowy, unfortunately. But did find the 2 GHOs, 2 coopers, and 1 other raptor that I don't think was a coopers but couldn't tell from my angle, redpolls, a kinglet, a flicker, goldfinches, tree sparrows, cardinals, a downy and chickadees. On the water, the goldeneye drakes were posturing with each other, and there was a female common merganser trying to hang around with the goldeneyes. Also saw lots of redheads, along with the usual longtails and scaups and buffleheads.
When I wasn't directly in the wind, it wasn't so bad out there after all!

qmnonic, what time did you go? I saw a set of footprints so I was the second one I guess (I was there around 7:40am), parked my car next to the first car in the parking :P

I was there about 7:30.. i was the only car there at the time, but the biker had already been there and turned back.
i love the smooth snow and sunrise on the spit.
