Title: White winged Crossbills

Hey

Around 9:00 this morning a large group of something different making very different sounds appeared in a tree next door.

I went for my Bino's and camera by the time I got back they were all gone.

Early this afternoon I see what I think is the same group in a tree the opposite direction.. Again making very different sounds than what I am used  to..

I head down the street and sure enough White winged Crossbills at the top of an evergreen tree. Noisy, feeding, hanging upside down.

I took a few shots nothing special.  The birds are thou  :D

Saw a flock yesterday briefly in the trees yesterday and last week there was a flock in my neighbour's trees, so they are around or passing thru south Caledon.
Have Pine Siskins at the feeder, but not redpolls yet.  My husband's background is Polish and everytime I mention Redpolls, he says they got rid of them all.   He means Red Poles!!!!!!!

I didn't see the Pine Siskin's yesterday but they are around today

plus the  W.W. Crossbill's

White winged Crossbill is a lifer,
Siskin is a lifer for me here in Milton (seen them way up North)

Was so excited yesterday as we say our first Crossbills ever in Glen Williams (or anywhere for that matter). 30-40 of them, a real sight for sore eyes.

I work part time at the sheridan nursery in glen williams. I have seen some large flocks of the WW in the tree tops from fall to spring.

I can finally claim to be a member of the "having seen W.W.Crossbills. Missed the turn for Halls coming west from Thickson and turned L. on Lakeridge and found them there in the pines on the right not far south of Victoria. Luckily, because my subsequent search of Halls was fruitless except for W.Turkeys.
