Title: White-Winged CrossBills
Post by: Photoman on January 12, 2009, 09:41:18 PM
Greetings to all :D

I stopped off at Bronte Park on the weekend in the afternoon and met up with other birders and photographers who where on the lookout for Crossbills. After about 3 hours of a little action we walked back to our cars to pack up and as luck would have it, a flock of crossbills flew in on the pine trees and started to chow down on the pine seeds. This was a first for me to see these birds. They stuck around for about 15mins and then flew off. They where on the second row of pine trees facing north on parking lot "A" on the first 3 trees facing east.
Here are some pics.

Enjoy

Clemens

Good birding to all 8)

I really like the second to last picture. It really shows off the birds markings and you can tell the size from the pine cone. Great Job !
