To my surprise today I came across a Brown Thrasher near the MacEwan House in Riverwood/Credit River Mississauga... Really caught me off gaurd for this time of year?
Also got a little too close about ten yards from a juvenile Red-tailed feeding on a song bird when an adult started screeching in a tree just over head... Boy the red tail in the adult really shined today against the bright sunlight!

Hi "tleeder".
I saw the Brown Thrasher at Riverwood back on January 11th and also on January 17th.

I would have to assume a good steady supply of food at Riverwood is keeping the Thrasher close by during winter... Acoording to even the lastest updated migration maps it's not supposed to be around town...

tleeder ... I've always wondered who supplies the food to the feeders near the house ... city workers, art gallery participants, general public or ??? Also, who is hanging all the fruit (apples, oranges) in the trees there? Looks quite decorative/pretty/colourful actually.
With the abundance of food there, perhaps someone can get a great photo of the Brown Thrasher.
