Title: Hawk identification Please
Post by: Jayme on January 30, 2009, 08:49:17 PM
This hawk has been in my yard 2X in the last month, thought it was a red-tail, but now am not sure.  He/She was very big - caught my eye from in the house, and grabbed my new camera/lens to capture him. Your expertise is appreciated!  (sorry for size of photo - I have a LOT to learn....)  I don't think this is the one that fed at my feeder, due to its size.

That is in fact its dinner - I believe it is a mouse, or some other small creature with a long tail.  The hawk stayed for quite some time eating.  We live right in the town of Aurora, so it was quite a sight.

Hi there, it's definitly a Red-tailed hawk, definitly an adult, probably a female if she's really big.
