Title: white winged crossbill?

I was wondering if this was a white winged crossbill.

Female American goldfinch ?

My field guide indicates that it is a nonbreeding female. Perhaps one of the more knowledgeable birders can comment on this.

Thanks for the answer. I can see it now in my birdbook.

  I find the female of bird species confusing.

  Just like in real life.
