Got a chance to capture a few images today. Been awhile since I've went out shooting, let alone post any bird shots. Today I came across a few White winged crossbills. Quite hard to shoot since they like to hang out in spruce trees in the shade. I had to bump the ISO quite a bit and still got pretty slow shutter speeds. These were taken at Halls Rd. in Whitby, I was able to get fairly close...in fact too close, many of my shots were out of focus because I was beyond the minimum focal distance and I couldn't tell on the LCD. LOL!
Anyway a few came out ok and I had to use a little noise reduction software to get rid of the noise.

Nice captures! Looking forward to more of your attempts, I think you'll find that Halls Rd. will have a tonne of species coming through in the next little while for you to practice on!

Great shots. It's very cool to see them so close up! I noticed all of them have bits of their lunch on their bills :)

Nice shots. As tame as mallards these days.
