Title: Merlin - Thornhill
Post by: oniedz on February 22, 2009, 09:03:25 AM
Sunday morning at 8:00 a.m. I saw a Merlin on a lightpost on the south side of Centre Street in Thornhill, between Atkinson and Bathurst.  Has anyone else seen any Merlins around this winter?

I have 2 sightings of Merlins in west oshawa/east Whitby in the last week

On wednesday one at Stevenson rd and Adelaide ave in west Oshawa
And tonight in whitby Rossland road just east of Garrad road.

Shouldn't be surprised by these birds since they are probably individuals involved with last years downtown Whitby nest. Either one of the adults or the young.

Now if we are seeing Merlins in the same area in April then it is time to check out every large spruce or white Pine in the area.
