Title: woodcock
Post by: farmer on February 26, 2009, 07:22:59 AM
I spotted a woodcock yesterday along a ditch at the back of our farm (Leamington area). It was feeding at an open spot in the ice where the field tile was running. I was surprised to see it here already, they do migrate don't they? I would think they would be hard pressed to find earthworms this time of year!

Hello Farmer

Yes woodcocks migrate.
With some nice warm and sunny weather, some do get back into Ontario at the end of febuary.

With that said I will be down in the Leamington area on saturday to finish off my winter list and a woodcock would be a great addition to it. Could I have directions to where it was seen.

Thanks in advance
