Hey !!
At lunch today I was hearing the sound of a Red winged black bird. Adjacent the tracks Downsview park (near that new construction site)
If it was a mimic it was a good one. I am pretty sure it was a red wing.
Napper :D
I haven't seen a Mocker up there yet but there are lots of Starlings..
-
I heard my first today as well in the Hamilton area, in addition to my first turkey vulture of the year.

BTW. The park is constructing a water drainage pond. They are calling it a lake.

Hey!! robgilroy
I read a thread today on another site.. The nice lady said she had Grackles at her feeders South Lake Simcoe.
I dunno how accurate that is... http://www.b2g4.com/boards/board.cgi?&u ... atureBoard (http://www.b2g4.com/boards/board.cgi?&user=SimcoeNatureBoard)
My Feeders are only busy from 8:00 am to 11:00 am. Then all quiet. Mostly Am Goldfinches. Lets see what Saturday brings..
Spring migration hopefully.

I haven't seen/heard any yet but there have been a lot of geese coming north over the past few days. I also heard a number of Blue Jays when I was at a park near the Bluffs.

Spent some time at the Bluffs today, saw a couple of RWBB singing away along with a mockingbird.

They're back!!!
Out for a nature walk this afternoon, could hear the trilling, looked up into the trees ... 10 male Red-winged Blackbirds. Won't be much longer before they're diving bombing people, dogs, squirrels, etc.

Yup - saw and heard them in Taylor Creek on March 7.

I had 4 RWBB in the yard on Tuesday, and I saw 3 Grackles fly over head on Thursday. I know spring is right around the corner, but it sure doesn't feel like it today. :(
I almost forgot the single Robin I saw on Wednesday.
I spotted all in the north-end of Whitby.
-
I had a few today singing by the pond near my house.

On my way to Arthur/Damascus today on a sales call from Meadowvale observed at least 50 plus RWBB inculding dozens and dozens of Grackles... Spring is finally here!
-
Just saw my first today! . ... 3of them calling back and forth to each other from 3 separate telephone poles by my work.

If you want to see red winged blackbirds Oakbank pond (Center St. between Yonge and Bathurst in Thornhill) is a great spot. Also lots of gulls, nesting Canada Geese and mallards already there but still no wood ducks (I will report if and when they show up). There's also a great blue heron who hangs around most of the time and lots of turtles which are probably still waiting for the water to warm up before they appear.

Thanks..
