Title: And they're back.....RWBBs
Post by: jjmb on March 08, 2009, 08:34:53 AM
Walked the Spit early on Saturday March 7 (before the crowds), and while it was quiet in some ways, it was nice to be greeted at sunrise with a chorus from Red Winged Black Birds. There were lots of common mergansers around, and also noted some white-winged Scoters, ring-necked ducks and a glaucous gull, amongst the usual suspects. On drier land, found the resident GHO, the Shrike with its mouse prey, and a peregrine. And the gulls are starting to gather on their nesting grounds. The sound could be heard from the gate.

A ground hog made an appearance, and I found a couple of raccoons snoozing in trees. It was a nice morning for a walk.
