Very nice... was the LTD on the rocks hurt? That's about the only time I see them like that.

Thanks Kin, I thought he was hurt too I took a few pics then put my camera down and went to rescue him I moved very slowly to give him time to get up and basically he rolled over and slipped in the water, I think he may have been just really tired but I did notice he was not flying or diving much but at least he got up on his own power...

I suspect he might have trouble with his wings. We had one last year with fishing line wrapped around one wing so it could not fly. Unfortunately, it was still very mobile in the water, so there was no chance of catching it.

I'll have to look for him the next time I'm down at the bluffs.

We also had one out in Corner Marsh a couple of summers ago that was missing one leg.

There's definitely an issue w/ its wings.  Perhaps it got into it with another duck and suffered some type of trauma.

Last weekend I saw two geese almost kill each other out at the Spit, and saw a deceased duck as well out at CSSP, either a bufflehead or a goldeneye.  Competition has become fierce for mating rights and fights are breaking out everywhere - even my backyard between the mourning doves!

Kin he is down by the rocks at the base of the bluffs, if you are at the rocks you are looking at the beach to your right and then in front would be the bluff wall...I may be there tomorrow also and will have a look for him too, Attila I am not sure about the wing because I think he flew over to a group of 5 Long Tails and then he flew back but I cannot be positive it was him so maybe you are correct, as you all know when you even walk on the shorline near Long Tails they take off out away from the shoreline this poor guy just floated beside the rocks..thanks Mark and Jo-anne it was fun getting the shots!
