Title: Greyish in colour, similar to a Blue Jay but a bit smaller.

I keep seeing this bird, but cannot find it's name?  Anyone know what I am seeing?  Thanks.  :?:

Similar to a blue jay in that it has a crest?  Might be a tufted titmouse - they are 3" or so smaller than a jay.
Similar in size could be a mockingbird or catbird,they are a bit smaller than a jay.

there is a grey jay but they are northern birds, have no crest. No idea whether they ever venture south?

Not any of the ones you suggested... it looks very similar in all characteristics to a Blue Jay but lighter, Greyish in colour.

& probably the same one as i saw last year,  perches of the SAME telephone pole EVERY single morning*

it was probably a northern shrike
