The 3 halequin ducks reported on Ontbirds yesterday were still present in the lake at Port Credit today at noon. One of the birds is a spectacular male in spring plumage. The ducks wre located just west of Saddington Park at the end of Mississauga Rd south of Lakeshore Rd. The ducks were close to shore & staying just west of the 1st. breakwall sheltering from the waves caused by the east wind. I spoke to a lady walking a dog who said the harlequins have been present for at least 3 weeks.

They do visit during the winters...I have seen them in the past winters along with a few other winter vistors...
This winter, I didn't see too much in terms of numbers or varieties of visiting ducks in Port Credit...anyone else notice this? Noticeably absent were umm...the whaddyca call them again? Longtails ?

I think they're the same 3 that's been reported from Humber Bay and Col Sam.
I've seen the 3 from Humber fly west towards Col Sam.

There were Harlequins reported at Port Credit last year. I agree that there seem to have been fewer ducks this year off the Port Credit shore than last year, though I did see some Longtails.

Plenty of long tails here in the city this year.
As for the Harlies, they were at the Scarborough Bluffs last year in April and I'm hoping that they show up again this year.
