Title: Gadwalls?

At Duck Pond in High Park this afternoon there pair of wood ducks, a kingfisher fishing, a night heron fishing, a handful of swans and a group of ducks which might be Gadwalls.
 Can anyone advise me on posting a photo as it didn't quite work the last time I tried it. I copied the URL from photobucket and then what do I do with the Img button or do I just paste the URL into the post? The last time I did that the photo itself opened into the post rather than the URL.
Advice would be appreciated as I would like to get a positive identification on the ducks I saw today.

Suecan, yes - those are Gadwells.  I was also roaming through HP yesterday afternoon.   The Gadwells are, as you likely know, similar in appearance to the Mallards but they have a sort of darkish bill and black rump feathers.   It's odd that there are no Gadwells at Grenadier Pond.

Maybe some time we will run into each other!

Did you manage to get close to the wood ducks? Every time I moved to one side of the pond, they moved to the other! I do plan to keep trying  that location so no doubt we will bump into one another at some point!

Hi Suecan, the Wood Ducks are rather elusive - certainly not nearly as eager to be friends as the Mallards.  The Wood Ducks tend to swim further out and not come near.  Pity as they are so beautiful.

So, if you see a tall girl looking at the ducks or holding up binoculars that's probably me.  Come say hello!
