Hi everyone,
I was recently at a friend's house and we were walking through some bushy area on his property and we found a dead bird and near that was a dead Dear. The bird was about 2 times the size of a Blue Jay and it has a large beak the size of a Blue Heron's but this bird did not have legs any where close to a Blue Heron
Could someone please ID this bird.
Thanks,
Cody

Where's the picture?
-
I didn't get pictures of the bird.

Going by the description, it could be just about any one of the herons. A green heron or least bittern is about the right size. A juvenile GBH or black-crowned night heron would fit too.
Do you remember any other details like the colour of the plummage, bill, legs etc?

Yes I do have details:
The bird was Blue and White.
It's beak was approx. 20CM.
The wings were approx.50-75CM.
The legs were small- 5-15CM
That's all the info I have.
Note:I just got of the phone with my friend and he going to go get pictures of the bird tonight. If he remembers :? I should have the pictures either 1. late tonight or 2. Tomorrow.

Sounds like a Black-crown night heron.

I'm not too good with estimates but here are the pictures for actual measurements.
Does anyone know the phone number or website to report dead birds in Niagara?
What type of Bird is this?

That looks like a Great Blue Heron.

I was back at the location where it was yesterday and it is gone.
Could Coyotes be a possibility?
