I suggest we make a Southern Ontario Wildlife section on the forum.
-
This should certainly be doable. But why do you think this is needed? Note, I'm not against it, but it is never a good idea to diversify a board like this too much. So, it would be useful if you would motivate the change. Thanks.
And I should mention, I don't generally read the posts in the Wild life section.
-
I thought of the idea because of the first part of the title on this forum Toronto and Southern Ontario... and if there is a Toronto Wildlife section I thought that there should be a Southern Ontario Wildlife section.
-
Reasonable enough.
Let's wait and see if we can get some input from some of the other moderators (I don't think I can personally add a new section - we'd have to ask Andy, who is the site administrator). If none posts in a couple of days, please remind me, and I'll try and I'll look into it.

Hi Birders: I view this forum first and foremost as a birders forum. That said, I do enjoy the comments and progress of the Wiley Cototes at the bluffs, even tho I don't know where the bluffs are. Also enjoy the post and pics of mink; beaver and any other elusive critters.
Not particularily interested in a White Tail Deer anywhere except downtown TO or a groundhog anywhere. If you want to see deer in the city, come to Sifton Bog in London. They are eating themselves out of existence.
A Moose in Pelee Park or a Polar Bear in Markam would merit a posting but can be accommodated in the existing forums.
I think this forum is an excellent and well managed birding bulletin board and the moderators are to be commended for their effort and results.

Hi again birders: An afterthought.
Change the name of the existing Toronto Wildlife page to Toronto and Southern Wildlife and the problem goes away.

Although for me, my main joy is the birding pics & info, I have found the "Wildlife" section thoroughly enjoyable and informative.
I am certainly not opposed to a Southern Ontario sub-section (would love it in fact - I like knowing what lurks out there - smile) but prefer a distinction be kept between Toronto and Southern Ontario as I would rather not "wade" through posts to find Toronto information.
-
I too have no objection. I'll wait for some more comments before altering the board in case any of you feel it's not a good idea.
-
"Southern Ontario Wildlife" sounds good, but really, "Ontario wildlife" would be fine too.
-
I'll go with Kin to a simple name change from "Toronto w..." to Ontario or perhaps better S.Ont. to broaden the scope of 'wildlife' reporting (Saturday night wildlife at the bar should not be included though ;-) ). I like the thought of a simpler board rather than adding new sections.

I agree.

It seems that many of you prefer to just change the name of the forum rather than create an additional one. My preference is to have two separate forums: one for Toronto and one for Southern Ontario, just like we have for birding reports. I understand the argument for not creating additional forums, but also see the logic for doing so. I personally like the idea of having specific forums. I prefer to see moose or cougar reports separate from those on urban critters. Also, as site admin, I make the final call....

Sounds good Andy, one for Toronto, and one for everywhere else.

Thank you for accepting my suggestion.
