Title: question regarding Great Blue Heron
Post by: cocosally on April 17, 2009, 12:32:04 PM
Is there such a stage where GBH as white-phased Great Blue Heron? Looking at a bird photo site, there's a picture saying that the GBH is "white-phased Great Blue Heron". Maybe it is the Albino GBH?

There is a white morph (not phase... the bird is born that way and never changes) of the Great Blue Heron.  It was formerly recognized as a distinct species (the Great White Heron).  However, you are highly unlikely to see one in Canada or the US out of the Everglades or Florida Keys.
