Title: Garter Snakes

Paid a visit to Ball's Falls Conservation Area in the Niagara Peninsula and the garter snakes are just waking up from their hibernation.  Here's a few pics for you all.

Glad you like them David, I hope to find some new colour patterns in the next couple of weeks as more come up from their long winters sleep.

There's also a few other trips that I have planned and if they're successful, I think everyone will be amazed at what can be found here in southern ontario when it comes to wildlife.

Attila ... Cool photos!  My favourite is your first picture.  

Haven't seen any yet this year, but usually at Erindale Park there are lots of Garter Snakes, sometimes Smooth Green Snakes and Eastern Milk Snakes.  

When the weather warms up a bit, at the pond (South of Burnhamthorpe, East side of trail) - lots of birds, frogs, turtles, muskrats, etc.

Nice shots.  I saw my first one this year yesterday as I was walking in the Uxbridge Countryside Preserve.  It's nice to see them again.

I once found a small blue snake....unfortunately very flat....on my drive....does anyone know the type and how I can find more? It had a reddish belly

At Thickson Woods, near the south-east side of the woods on the pathway, there's a spot where the garter snakes like to sun themselves. I've had 10 or so in that one little spot.

It was likely a Smooth Green Snake.  They turn blue when dead.

Here's one from Centre Island today.  Hopefully I'll be able to find a few different species to include here in the thread soon.
