Title: Hooded Merganser - Marita Payne Park, Vaughan
Post by: oniedz on April 19, 2009, 05:35:03 PM
There is a beautiful male hooded merganser among the mallards and canada geese in the pond at Marita Payne park.  Lots of other good birds to see if you continue up the path along the river.  Marita Payne is most easily accessed by continuing on Clark west of Dufferin till it ends.  Walk down the path and go to the right.  You will be between a pond and the West Don River.  You can keep walking up along the river.  In the past I have seen good stuff there.  This merganser was on land and allowed us to get pretty close before he jumped in the water.
