Title: big black what is it ?
Post by: jonah on April 19, 2009, 06:23:31 PM
Hello friends,
I was driving down a steep inclined road today, which overlooks a valley to the side, and out flies a very large-winged black bird of some kind, but not a hawk. It was facing away from me so I could not see its' head, would it be a vulture ? No other colour was on it , as it soared and glided away from me. I am in the Niagara area. :?:
Suggestions anyone ?
Jonah

Possibly a Turkey Vulture.  Lots in the Niagara region.

If you ever walk along River Road in Niagara Falls from Bampfield St. towards the Falls, you can sometimes see perched Turkey Vultures VERY up close!!!
