Sorry no pictures.
Sun rise yesterday found me looking at a sparrow type bird feeding from the mixed sunflower feeder.
Size= full sized song sparrow.
Front & side view= Close to female red breasted grosbeak.
Rear view, in between the wings on the rump was a solid yellow patch, very much like on a yellow rumped warbler.
No other yellow seen on the bird, there was some stripping on the head (white or very light grey) and some stripping of the chest like a song sparrow ( about half of what a SS has)
Pine sisken, yellow rumped warbler for sure it is not and a little to small for a F rb grosbeak.
My book is of no aid. :?

Hi if you have a copy of Sibley guide to birds look on page 529 under House Finch
this Yellow variant shows up every now and then in Ont ( 9 to 10 times a year ) and at times veers from Yellow to even bright Orange
hope this helps ???? cool 8) loking bird though
