Okay, all day today a female Cardinal has been trying to get into our north facing ground floor windows (facing a large hedge where 2 pair live). She flies into the window and tries to perch on the ledge then when she sees one of us she flies off into the hedge, stares at us and tries again fifteen minutes later.
Weird...
Tom.

Do you have a mirror near that window? She's seeing her reflection somewhere.
-
Yeah, mystery solved... She's sitting on the sunny side of the hedge and the windows are in shade with no lights on so they are the mirrors... She did the same thing later on the workshop window. Funny to watch though.

Awww ... how cute is that photo! :D

Thanks, it was raining that morning so I don't know whether she looks more pathetic or pissed off. I swear what little IQ she has is dropping daily.
Oh well, hopefully she will be too busy to chase her reflection soon enough.

Every time I look at that photo, I hear the Everly Brothers song "Crying In The Rain" in my head!
Looks like she has big, sad eyes.
(Yes, I'm warped)
