From what I have read on some birding sites there are lots of ticks in the trees this time of the year. I have read some tips for keeping them off but was wondering if the bug jackets (mesh) they sell at canadian tire anygood for this along with spraying deet on the clothing or net itself. A few weeks back I got a good size sore from one but its cleared up now. Thanks for any info.

hey JTF, sorry to hear that you got bit by a tick. I hope you had it checked to make sure everything came out. The netting shirt, pants and hat work really well and I highly sugest using them. My husband and I wear ours mostly for the may flies and the mosquitoes when they get bad, but ticks were a big issue last year and prolly will be again this year. Def. you don't want to chance it either way. Good luck

Thanks for the post back, I am going to get a set today.

I was under the impression that if you checked yourself right after an excursion you would be ok. From what I recall ticks take more than a few hours to actually burrow in and break the skin? Nasty things for sure - I freaked out the one time I had one on me.

Good point Greg, thanks.
