Getting off the bus 5pm this past Friday I immediately observed a large BLACK BIRD (**MASS!!) hovering in front of my home - a kite was tangled in the tree in front of my home *** & immediately recognized a turkey vulture!!! My 2nd personal up close sighting, what a !@#$%FU!@$#@! magnificent bird!!! Enormous!!!!!!!! I have witnessing a bald eagle fishing some 50 feet away ..in Kapuskasing some years ago .... this was totally different what MAGNIFICENT SPECIMEN!!!!!!!!! :lol: [/b]

Yeah, they're pretty cool. Up north one day I was hiking and stepped out into this farm field. There were about 20+ Turkey Vultures, some juvenile, some adults, and they got very curious when I appeared. I snapped while standing on the edge under tree cover. Here's one:

just saw the griffin vulture in northern israel. now THAT is a large bird of prey!
what part of toronto did you see it in?

5 minutes north of the Humber College Arboretum. The griffin vulture sure looks interesting. Must have been a sight. I still think back & just shake me head when I remember this Vulture circling the tree and checking out a kite that was tangled in the branches. It probably thought that the kite was an injured bird. 8)
