Title: Technically Rare Bird
Post by: TomTelford on May 18, 2009, 06:43:54 PM
So my wife is outside working in the garden and I'm tidying up dinner when she knocks on the window and tells me to have a look out the front door.  Perched on the front arbor is this fine specimen.  At first glance in silhouette from the side I thought it was a hawk but it turned out to be more in the prey category.  I knew there are some around but I never expected to see one in my front yard and man are they big.

Sorry if the title doesn't come up.  It's a homing pigeon.

Thanks, it observed us for a few minutes and then took off.  Taking a breather I guess.  Biggest pigeon I've ever seen...

Beautiful photo.

I wonder where this Sweetie was banded?

My wife tells me there are at least two farms around here that raise racing pigeons but I'd have to call around to find out who's bands these are.
