Title: Areas around Ajax?
Post by: Hilander on May 22, 2009, 01:50:18 PM
Hi,

New to the Ajax area and was wondering where some prime spots to go were.  Both my wife and I enjoyed Lynde Shores Conservation Area last weekend and were thinking of Heber Downs next.

Any thoughts?

Rory

Make sure you try Hall's Road, just 500m west of the Lynde Shores parking lot. It's amazing what can be seen sometimes down this little stretch of road.

Thickson's Woods is just to the east a bit.

The mudflats of Frenchman's Bay can be reached from the parking lot of Daycare Center on Bayly.

Corner Marsh/Rotary Park, go south on Westney, then west when you hit the lake. You'll see the parking lot. The areas along the waterfront, west across the bridge is good for gulls, shorebirds, songbirds etc.

Hi Kin,

Thanks!  There's quite a few different spots that I've thought of checking out, but any added bit of info is greatly appreciated!

These are now definitely on my places to go.

Cheers, Rory.

As we move into the summer months, the inland locations are best for birds.
Heber Down Conservation Area - Whitby
Greenwood Conservation Area - Ajax
Clairmont Conservation Area and farther north the Bluebird Trail- Pickering
Rayfield Pye
