Title: Scoters at Sam Smith Park
Post by: Brian Bailey on May 23, 2009, 12:25:58 AM
I was a bit surprised touring Sam Smith Park this evening that the most abundant waterfowl seemed to be White-winged Scoters.  I had about 30 flying east, and then over half an hour later, 23 flying west.  Maybe some of the same birds? There were also about a dozen birds swimming way offshore.  They were just black specks through binoculars, but through a scope, they were more White-winged Scoters with at least two male Surf Scoters among them.

Also had 2 Great Egrets flying over, headed east.
