I am not a Butterfly person but I do know that the Carden Alvar is one of the best places to go to see Butterflys and they are out up there with a vengence.
Pick a sunny warm day after 10 am or so and you will see a large variety of the little beaties, especially along Wylie and Alvar Roads.

Hi Norm, I AM a butterfly person and I was actually hoping to stop at Carden (on my way to Casino Rama for a Sat. night show) to do some birding, so the butterflies would be a great bonus. Now to convince my wife who, of course, wants to stop at Cookstown for some shopping, to let me take the 'Eastern' route! How is the birding there now, btw? and what's it like on the weekend; could there be enough birders to keep the butterflies (and birds) out of 'shooting' range?
