Title: Uxbridge Countryside Preserve-Clay-coloured sparrows
Post by: Mark D on June 04, 2009, 04:10:04 PM
Yesterday I went out for a nice walk in the preserve.  I saw some nice birds, including male indigo buntings, bololinks and bluebirds singing.  But the highlight was in one spot where I had two or three clay-coloured sparrows singing, a new bird for me!  Unfortunately I only heard them, but I'm going back today to see if I can getr a look at them.

Good birding,
Mark

The Preserve is located in Uxbridge.  If you come into Uxbridge on highway 47, you will see Walmart on your right.  Turn into the Walmart parking lot and drive behind the store.  Between it and Rona is the parking for for the preserve.  I heard the sparrows just south of post 16 on the map I posted below.  There is also a map in the parking lot, as well as little maps around the trail, and it's pretty easy to find your way around.  I was there yesterday and didn't hear any of the clay coloured sparrows, but they very well may still be around.
