Title: Just not sure ... without Binos.
Post by: Hilander on June 06, 2009, 09:59:51 PM
Was playing golf this morning - got to learn to bring my binos even while golfing! - when I spotted a bird at the very top of a (approx) 25' tree.  It seemed to be about 12" long with a "good" length of tail feathers.  Where is called, it's tail lifted.  Not vertical, but some.

It's called was a descending "tweee-derp" (close to that).  A single sound, descending in pitch - ie, high note to low note.

My first thought was a Kestrel or Northern Shrike, but my books say differently on the call.

Hope that wasn't too vague!

Help?

Rory
