Title: Great Egrets at Reesor Pond July 12
Post by: Leslie Kinrys on July 12, 2009, 10:46:03 PM
We visited Reesor Pond today. Highlights were:

-Eight Great Egrets hanging out with a Great Blue Heron
-Cliif, Barn and Tree Swallows
-Song and Savannah Sparrows
-one Turkey Vulture flying over the area
-Kildeer, Spotted Sandpiper and Greater Yellowlegs.

We saw a Greater Yellowlegs catch a frog and swallow it! We were amazed that it got the frog down its throat.

I have been there a couple of times also Leslie and it is a great spot.
We also saw spotted sandpipers and least sandpipers.  A red tail, TV and osprey flew over.

Today when I was there there were only 4 egrets and 2 great blue herons.
Nice place to walk.

I did see a man walking on the sandbars to take photos which was totally unnecesary- all the birds disappeared.  There is a great path  around the pond and you can see and take photos very easily there.
