Title: Vireo
Post by: Iain on July 13, 2009, 06:56:34 PM
My first thought was Philadelphia Vireo with the eye stripe and yellow underside.  However this species breeds farther north and would be a very unlikely sight in Etobicoke after May.  When did you see this bird?

My guess would be that it's a young Great Crested Flycatcher.  I can't remember when I last saw a young one, and most of my bird books are buried in the chaos of home renovations, but the gis, the bi-coloured bill, and the bright yellow underparts lead me in that direction.
