Title: Huge Flock of Mute Swans at Sam Smith Park
Post by: Brian Bailey on August 26, 2006, 09:05:31 PM
I'm not a big fan of Mute Swans, but I couldn't help being impressed with the number of them at Sam Smith Park this morning.  There were well over 100, mostly in a tight flock just to the east of the park.  I stopped counting at 50, but I was less than half way through the flock.

Also seen:  an Osprey headed east (wrong way!), a Green Heron, and a few warblers near the Power House (mainly Redstarts and Magnolias).  There was a Lesser Scaup, one Common, and several Hooded Mergsansers in the harbour area.  There were also lots of Monarchs fluttering south everywhere you look.
