Title: friendly Chickadee

Hey!!

We arrived at the beach around 1:00pm to find empty feeders, darn Squirrels :evil:.
Anyhow I filled the feeder and within a few minutes a group of Chickadeedee dee's and Chipping sparrows
started feeding..

I opened a cold one sat down in our mini garage and realized I had left the top cover of the feeder open. Walked over and closed the top cover and a bird landed on the feeder. Hmmm thats interesting.. Reading about this before.. I picked up a handful of seeds and after about 2 minutes a Chickadee
landed on my index finger grabbed a seed and flew to the nearest tree..

I thought that was pretty cool. I have heard this happens at  the Royal botanical Gardens in Hamilton if you bring seeds..

There's lots of places with very friendly Chickadee's. Out at Lynde Shores/Cranberry Marsh/Hall's Road, they'll land on you if you just stick your hand out... no seed required. A few will check under my fingernails :)

and they can become downright annoying at times, especially when you're lining up a once a year shot and one of the very friendly chickadees decides to perch on your lens...but they are kind of cute and the neighborhood kids (and some of the adults too!) love watching me hand feed them!

My wife and I have hand fed chickadees in many locations. They are always lots of fun. One chickadee got particularly annoyed with me when I put my seed away and dive bombed my head screeching. I quickly put my hand out again and it resumed its (rightful from its perspective) feeding.
