Post by: David the park stroller on August 19, 2009, 04:43:18 PM
For the last few days a trumpter swan has been in the north reeaches of Grenadier Pond in High Park [tagged #185] And we saw a stirring crowd of 7 Great Egrets, plus 4 GBH all close together in the lower duck pond today.
Title: Reporting Trumpeter Swan Sightings

Back in June, KPaw talked about seeing a Trumpeter http://outdoorontario.net/birds/phpBB/v ... peter+swan (http://outdoorontario.net/birds/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=3417&highlight=trumpeter+swan).

At that time, I mentioned a March 09 article from the Toronto Star regarding the comeback of our indigenous Trumpeter Swan.

They request sighting information (tag #, where you saw the swan and such - if you have a pic send it as well):
"Scientists rely on public sightings of swans for their studies. If you see a trumpeter swan – many have bright yellow tags – email: theholtentwo@rogers.com"

Thank you for your report, the program couldn’t have been a success if it wasn’t for the general publics sightings.
