Title: White Pelican
Post by: Christine on August 29, 2009, 09:03:15 AM
What a thrill to see my first Pelican!   Not the best shots as the bird was a great distance away from the viewing platform.  I initially thought I had my binoculars trained on a swan with his head submerged...realized my huge mistake when he came up for air!

you have to go back to Flickr and view the actual photo (not the photo stream). then right-click to get the image location (should end in jpg)

That's a really cute shot. It has an amusing look about it.

Heh, I can just imagine your face when you saw that bill emerging from the water ... and emerging, and emerging ...

I almost fell off the observation tour when it emerged ;)  I knew a pelican was there but didn't expect it to be the first bird I focused on.  It was an amazing experience, especially watching it get onto the log with the corms.  Pelicans are beautiful, but not so graceful :)
