Title: Bird Banding

Prince Edward Point Bird Banding Station south of Picton Ontario 7 Sept 09. Banding is done by first catching the birds in mist nets and then placing an aluminum band with an identification number around their leg. During this process information is written down about the bird such as wing length, weight, sex and age of bird.

My daughter who is at Queen's (biology) would love to participate in bird banding. Could you tell me who she could contact to make enquiries?
Just curious, Do they band every bird that is caught? or are they looking for certain species only

I just go over mainly to photograph warblers they migrate through at Prince Edward point. The link for the site is below and had an application for volunteers. I believe anything that is caught, next month they focus on banding Northern Saw-whet Owls.

ohhhhh now that would be an experience with the saw-whets! Thanks for posting  :D
That's a great site, I like that they band everything to give you a full total of species through the area.
