Title: Yesterday at Colonel Sam Smith park in Etobicoke...
Post by: bernie2112 on October 18, 2009, 11:46:34 PM
Greetings!

Yesterday was a nice day to bird. We saw several Eastern Phoebes playing in the fields. Along with a Hermit Thrush and Ruby Crowned Kinglets.

Later in the day towards the western bay we saw about 6 American Wigeons close to shore along with a raft of Scaup and a single Herring Gull.

Out in the southern bay there were three loons: a mother (I guess) and two younger ones.

Sparrows: White-crowned, Song, and White-throated were in and amongst the shrubs.

Cheers,

Bernie

Colonel Sam Smith park is at the base of Kipling Ave., south of Lakeshore Blvd in South Etobicoke. Along the QEW/Gardiner exit at Kipling and go south. Parking is at the very end.
