Title: Great Blue Heron
Post by: MEGHAN on November 04, 2009, 09:55:27 PM
Thanks to yogistewart for posting that this guy was still around.
Found him today at Humber Bay East.
Why can I never find these guys in the water?  :)
Look at that  "beard"! This guy was beautiful!
Pardon the poop

I have to agree - he looks like something out of some sci-fi or futuristic movie - definitely the bad guy!

Thank you so much! It's because of your post that I knew he was there.
I'm going to head out there again this week to see if I can find him in the water, or at least on the ground!!
Moira, Crystal thank to the both of you. I love these photo's as well. Definately a different look for one of these guys.
Can anyone explain to me about the  "beard"? I have never seen one like this. It was actually blowing in the breeze. Does this come with age. I have never seen anything like that. He would tuck his head righ down inside it. Talk about the Tale of the Headless Heron.
Thanks Everyone.
Meghan

when we were there this weekend (sat and sun), there were two herons fishing in the middle pond area (where all the buffleheads swim). there were a fair # of photographers around.
i've seen one of the herons in the little stream that runs under the bridge after the Air India monument. makes for nice and easy pictures.

yogistewart, I found this little guy in the pond yesterday. No sign of Dracula though.  :(

Thanks Crystal
So true. You know me, I love these guys (read "obsessed")
It was great to actually find one in the water. Instead of in a tree on a lamp post or in the road at work  :D
