Title: Different Perspective - Hooded Mergansers
Post by: Anonymous on November 07, 2009, 10:24:49 PM
From today at Colonel Sam Smith Park.  The backlit conditions made for some interesting light streams shining through the hoods.

Great shots! I was there yesterday but didn't have the patience to hang around for that "perfect shot". So i went off to see what else there was in the park (which wasn't much).
I had a good walk though!

Hi there Irene, thanks for your kind words - they're most appreciated.

The park, believe it or not, does actually have a lot of things to be seen - especially at this time of year.

With regards to the hoodies, the shots I took below were in the last 1/2 hour of daylight with the sun right in front of me which allowed for some interesting light tones.  It was interesting, as well, to see the hoody drakes starting performing mating rituals which are normally left for the spring time (my last photo).

Thanks for sharing those Atilla and Andy, they are wonderful shots.  Makes me think about shooting in different lighting and of course different times of the day as Atilla did.
They make stunning photos.

Irene :)
